But the Barracuda has a separate category for "blogs". (Example: We block anything that is porn related. It did reveal some weaknesses in the Barracuda categories, that I was able to correct for. So our usage of Spector 360 was not to block, but to record/monitor. We have 2 Barracuda's in place one for spam filtering, the other for web content filtering. My boss wanted to know very detailed info about how our users are using their PC's. My own experience with Spector 360 is very similar to KMolloy's. Bottom line: great product, but you better NEVER let the support expire.

Please read my full review, don't just skim it. I'll look for another product with more reasonable licensing terms in January. If their product is that good, why do they choose to license it this way? It also seems that this licensing strategy traps you into a long term commitment that gets longer every time you add an additional system. In my book, this is completely unreasonable and does not allow for growth during the year. With this arrangement, the only time it pays to add additional licenses is when you do your renewal. This huge additional cost of extending licenses turned a simple purchase into a high volume dollar purchase that forced me to go up my management chain for approval. I could not purchase 10 pro-rated licenses but the Spectorsoft said I had to pay to extend the 50 licenses to July of 2013 THEN purchase the 10 licenses. I wanted to add 10 new systems (sounds reasonable) in July of 2012. I had 50 one-year licenses that expired in Jan of 2013. In addition, their licensing is NOT set up to allow the addition of new machines in the middle of a licensing term. I had the same experience with letting the license expire (which you never want to do). Good reporting tools and it appears to have a minimum impact on performance.īeware of their licensing issues. The product does what it days it does and does it well.
